Power Plate

This ultimate workout machine will leave fitness buffs ecstatic but can also drill a hole in their pocket. An invention of Dutch Olympic trainer Guus van der Meer, this popular exerciser uses three-dimensional vibrations to exponentially increase the effect of regular exercises.

Price: While the off-the-rack version can cost between Rs6 and Rs8 lakh, it can also be customised to suit the user’s taste for an extra amount.

When it comes to cardio equipment, Woodway and Technogym treadmills set the standard, but the real luxe item is the ROM. The Quick Gym ROM machine is actually a heavy (weighs about 40 kg) flywheel with a centrifugal brake. Using this equipment for four minutes is supposed to be more than equal to a full workout regime, as the machine uses 12 times more muscle cells than running or brisk walking.

Price: For those who want to actually experience the equipment, be prepared to shell out about Rs2 lakh over a few sessions. If you buy it, you will have to pay about Rs8 lakh.

Scala by Pent Fitness

This makes use of a wall bar for exercise. Developed by Austrian scientist Dr Norbert Egger, the Hypoxi trainer has been around since 1990s. Being sold across 40 countries today, it is one of the most popular training machines. The device has been specifically designed to target common problem areas in both men and women – cellulite, and fat on the tummy, hips and thighs. These trainers stimulate blood circulation in these areas, leading to quick weight and cellulite loss, increasing the efficacy of the exercise.

Price: The price of a Hypoxi session is about Rs5,000 per workout. However, the rich and the famous buy their personal units for up to Rs3,50,000.

While most of these luxurious gym equipment are not readily available in India, apart from the Power Plate (through Focus Fitness, its official distributor), the brands can make arrangements for delivery in India.
